How to use LED drivers properly?

According to the characteristics of the power grid, the requirements of LED characteristics and related LED products, the following points should be taken into account when selecting the LED drive power supply.

 

  • According to the LED current and voltage characteristics, it is more ideal to use constant current drive. It can avoid the change of LED forward voltage and cause current changes, while the constant current makes the LED brightness stable.
  • In addition, the LED luminous flux is inversely proportional to the temperature, so the use should minimize the power supply heat and design a good cooling system. Thus reducing the ambient temperature of LED work.
  • In order to ensure the overall life of LED products, the junction temperature of LEDs must be controlled within a certain range, that is, to control the working environment temperature of LED products.

 

  1. Before installation, confirm whether the rated input voltage of the power supply is within the range of the grid voltage, such as the input voltage of the power supply is AC100 ~ 265V, the grid voltage can not exceed 265V and less than 100V, because when the grid exceeds 265V for a long time will damage the power supply, when the grid voltage is less than 100V, the power supply may not work properly.

 

  1. Pay attention to the distinction between the input and output lines of the power supply, to avoid damage to the power supply or unnecessary safety accidents caused by connecting the opposite line.

 

  1. To ensure the safety of use and reduce interference, make sure the grounding wire (FG) is reliably grounded.

 

Do not use under overload or very light load. 80% of the output power of the power supply should be used when matching.

 

  1. If the power supply is non-isolated, be sure to confirm that the load is connected first, and then connect the input power, otherwise it will burn the LED lamp beads.

 

  1. In order to extend the service life of the power supply, the power supply should be installed in an environment conducive to heat dissipation as much as possible.

 

  • It is strictly forbidden to install the power supply in a high temperature environment.

 

  • Exposed in ventilated air as much as possible.

 

  • If installed in a closed environment, the power supply must be effective contact with the metal housing of the lamp, but not direct contact to prevent short-circuit fry or use other effective heat dissipation methods, so that the heat generated by the power supply can be effectively transmitted to the outside air.

 

  1. The relationship between the environment and the power output and lifetime of the power supply

 

As the ambient temperature rises, the power output of the power supply gradually decreases, and the lifetime of the power supply is gradually shortened.
